Camping is awesome, but let’s be real: it’s only great when the weather cooperates. Listening to a soft rain patter on the tent from the coziness of my sleeping bag is fine by me. But spending whole days in a downpour? No, thank you. On the flip side, too much heat isn’t fun either. Especially not with little kids I don’t want to expose to harsh sun. You probably have your own list of preferences too. Thankfully, Europe offers plenty of choices. So, what are the best destinations for each season?

Glamping in Spring: Sun, Sea, and City Breaks

To catch some spring sunshine, head to Southern Europe. Glamping spots are super affordable then. In South France, the Cote D’Azur is basking in sunlight. Northern Italy might be a bit hit or miss weather-wise, but the central and southern parts usually enjoy a sunny spring. I can almost smell the spring blossoms just thinking about it. Spain sees little rain. Most of the country warms up from May onwards. In Portugal, the Algarve coast has little rain and plenty of sunshine. A bit less known is Croatia. Its southernmost part, South Dalmatia, is the warmest with the swimming season starting in April. Even in Istria, with an average temperature of 21 degrees in May, the weather is lovely.

Spring is also perfect for visiting tourist hotspots and beautiful southern cities like Lisbon, Seville, and Venice. They’re still quiet and not too hot.

Glamping in Summer: Something for Everyone

During the summer months, you can pretty much pick any spot in Europe. It all depends on what you’re into. For a holiday in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, and Northern France, you’re most likely to hit good weather in the summer. They’re great for an active holiday, especially if you’re not a fan of tropical temperatures.

Summers in Austria and Switzerland are generally warmer than in the Netherlands, though you might still find snow high up in the mountains. Sadly, they’re also quite rainy countries. But on the southern side of the Alps, you can enjoy lovely Mediterranean weather.

Sweden might not have many hours of sunlight, but the summers are warm, averaging around 20 degrees. The weather is quite stable with little rain. Temperatures above 30 degrees can occur, which feels more comfortable due to the low humidity compared to Southern Europe.

If you do love warm summer days, then Southern France, Italy, Spain, Croatia, and Portugal are your go-to spots. Finding a spot to cool off by the sea, a lake, or a pool is a good idea.

Glamping in Autumn: The Best Late Summer Locations

In autumn, the warmest countries are in Southern Europe. The advantage over spring is that the water has had time to warm up, making it perfect for swimming. In this post, I’ll share my tips for a beautiful late summer.

Glamping in Winter: Cold Outside, Cozy Inside

Why not go glamping in winter? As long as it’s cozy and warm inside. This Swedish treehouse looks so romantic. It’s a cool choice if you’re up for a bit of adventure. Prefer something a tad less chilly? In Spain, there are spots where you can stay year-round, like at Balcón de Andaluz and Casa del Mundo.

So, when are you planning your next glamping trip? Whether you’re chasing the sun or looking for a cozy winter getaway, there’s a perfect spot waiting for you in Europe. Happy glamping!
